Trying to do it all....

I’m a working South African mother with a very active 2 year old boy in day care and we have another bundle of joy on the way.  Yeah, sometimes I do wonder how I get through each day as I’m also studying to get diploma in Photography and trying to get my house organized and ready for when baby no.2 arrives.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not an overall happy pregnant person, but being pregnant the first time was a lot easier, even when we moved a month after Liam was born. I had EVERYTHING organized before he arrived. All the baby stuff I didn't plan on using right away were in boxes along with a lot of the rest of the house. Then I had his downstairs things and his upstairs things and his outside things and his travel things all categorized. Where I got space for everything I don’t know as our apartment resembled something like a chicken coop stacked with boxes. I remember getting family and friends over to meet our precious little guy and them having to step over boxes and sit on boxes etc. But I knew exactly where every little thing was. Then a month later we moved into a bigger house with a proper sized garden so that my son will be able to play outside and run and jump and be a boy. Everything was bliss.

This time around I just can't seem to get everything I want to do, done. My house really is a mess. Living with a toddler really changes your perspective and priorities. To the outsider it won't look like such, as long as they don't open any cupboards.

The plan is to throw away/give away/move all the stuff we are storing in the guest bedroom to wherever. Paint it a nice shade of blue. Put up new curtains and turn it into Liam's room. That is going to be awesome because the room he is in now is very small. Comfy for a nursery, but WAY to small for a toddler and all his toys. That's why all the toys are stored in containers all over the house. Everything should fit in his new room quite nicely and he'll have a little play area. Perfect. Then I want to turn his old room into the nursery again but only once I find out if no.2 is a girl or a boy.

It would be wonderful for all this to happen at least a couple of months before baby is born so that Liam can already get used to his new room and so that we won't have to deal with all the drama all at once. But like I said it's just impossible for me to focus enough to get anything done at this stage.

Then I'm also constantly worrying if Liam will accept the new baby and if I will love baby as much as I love Liam. Although I've read hundreds of articles about the subject and all of them saying I will, it still just seems impossible at the moment, but I have faith.
My whole world
Then also poor dad. I love my husband to bits. He is my best friend, partner in crime and the love of my life. But baby no.1 really did rock our world and our relationship definitely felt that. This time I don't know how it's going to effect us. Is it going to be the same as the last time, is it going to be worse because we'll have even less time for each other or have we learned enough so that we will be better prepared and deal with the problems more rationally. That I don't know and will probably only find out once baby no.2 is here.

On the lighter side of things, although I'm not the happiest pregnant person, I do think I try my best to be an awesome mom. Liam and I are two peas in a pod. And I can't wait for baby to be born so that I can hold him/her and cuddle him/her and love him/her. (We really need to find out the gender now.)

So for all you exhausted and worried moms with a second baby on the way, please know that you are definitely not alone.

Have a Wonderful Day and a Happy Life!
